Warcraft: Orcs & Humans introduced new types of missions, including conquering rebels of the player’s race and limited-forces missions, in which neither side could make further units and skirmishes which were single-player games that were not part of a larger campaign. It received critical acclaim and the game became by far the company’s greatest success to that date, and for the first time made the company’s finances secure. In 1994, inspired by Dune II, Blizzard Entertainment released a new fantasy Real Time Strategy (RTS) game by the name of Warcraft: Orcs and Humans. Despite all that, though, many buyers have decided to make the best of it.In this five-part series, we’ll go back to five of the oldest games that birthed esports, play them, and examine their relevance in esports today. This disastrous remake was full of problems and quickly became one of the lowest-rated games ever by users. After years of fan demand, Blizzard launched Warcraft 3: Reforged back in January. Both Warcraft and Warcraft 2 are excellent in their own right, but the pinnacle of the series for many players was Warcraft 3.

Much like the original Diablo, the game was largely considered to be abandoned until it was finally restored and made available on GOG just last year, along with the first Warcraft.

Warcraft 2 is one of Blizzard's earliest and most-loved games, but it hasn't been directly sold or supported by the company for years. Blizzard first released Warcraft 2 back in 1995, which became one of the most popular real-time strategy titles ever and was instrumental in introducing new players to the genre. A group of Warcraft 3: Reforged modders are using the game's assets to recreate the classic Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness.
